It’s obnoxious how awkward I can be in social situations…I always tell myself, “Hey! You’re in high school! You’re supposed to be slightly awkward, and once you reach college you’ll break out of that cocoon and be a little social butterfly!” but I honestly think I will never overcome how nervous and uncomfortable I get around new people. People I find extremely interesting intimidate me to the point where there’s no hope of us becoming good friends.
…I don’t really tell myself the actual quote above, but I thought the cocoon/butterfly metaphor was fitting.
